The REDFin project (Readiness Enhancement to Defend Financial sector) was geared to enhancing the defences of the European banking and financial sector through the definition of innovative methods for the analysis and prevention of cyber risk.

The initiative was formed due to a specific request promoted by the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA), within the Connecting Europe Facility Programme (CEF) aimed at creating a sustainable and efficient European network in the transport, energy and digital services sectors. 

ABI Lab, coordinator of the Project, had the task of increasing the ability to respond to attacks and awareness on cyber security risks within the Italian banking sector, through:

• the adoption of an innovative method of intelligence supporting the identification of cyber threats that can identify effective situations of cyber risk;

• the exploitation of the results arising from the methodology in order to identify potential threats, prevent future cyber attacks and establish ad hoc practice simulations;

• the activation of a complete programme of tests and advanced practice exercises.
