The DEFeND project (Data govErnance For supportiNg Gdpr) aimed to define, design and develop a platform to support various organisations representing reference industries and sectors (including the banking/financial sector) towards achieving compliance with the operating lines of the GDPR.

In particular, the initiative – financed within the framework of the European Horizon 2020 Programme – had the main objective of creating a system to identify potential gaps in personal data security, to discern deficiencies in the protection of this information and create a decision-making support system which allows any identified deficiencies to be analysed and corrected immediately and effectively. 

Within the Project, ABI Lab contributed towards the analysis of the operational and technological requirements needed to execute and implement the project at a banking level. In particular, the establishment of a specific group of bank users was envisaged which may analyse and test the main results of the initiative through the conduct of a pilot case. In addition, ABI Lab provided effective support in the activities of Dissemination & Communication by playing a key role in promoting the project at a European level with reference banks and financial institutions.
